About Stann

Stann W. Givens has been licensed to practice law in Florida since 1974. He graduated from Bucknell University in 1971 and received his law degree from Florida State in 1973. Stann is Board Certified as a Family Law Mediator by the Supreme Court. He has lectured and written extensively on a variety of topics in family law. He is co-author of the Alimony chapter of theDissolution of Marriage manual made available by the Florida Bar to its members. Stann is a fellow in the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is a Past- President of this organization’s Florida chapter. He is founder and executive director of the Family Law Inn of Tampa (American Inns of Court). Stann is active in both the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Florida Bar. He has served as a member on a variety of committees within both organizations. Significantly, Stann has chaired the Marital and Family Law Certification Committee and a Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar. Locally, he has served as chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the Family rules Committee, the Lawyer Referral Committee, and the Family Law Section Pro Bono Committee. Stann has been identified as one of the ”Best Lawyers in America“ since 1998 by the Woodward/White lawyer rating, and as a ”SuperLawyer®“ since 2006. Stann has received an ”AV“ rating by Martindale-Hubble, the oldest and most recognized evaluator of attorneys and law firms. Givens Law Group was selected as a Tier One Firm for Family Law by US News and World Reports since its inception in 2011, the highest national ranking possible. Within the Tampa legal community he is also a member of the Ferguson-White Inn of Court.
