About Nasir
Nasir Hussain (”Nas“) is a senior associate in Winston & Strawn’s internationally recognized litigation practice. He primarily represents clients in antitrust matters (litigation, merger reviews, and counseling), regulatory investigations and administrative actions (e.g., investigations into potential False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act violations), internal investigations, and other high-value complex commercial litigation disputes. Though Nas serves clients in a variety of sectors, he has a distinctive understanding of the healthcare industry and the business of health care. Nas is first and foremost a litigator—he has extensive experience litigating antitrust and other complex matters, including class actions, before state and federal courts throughout the country at all stages of a dispute, from prelitigation negotiation to trial preparation. He is responsible for managing the day-to-day litigation and developing strategy for multi-million-dollar contract disputes and multiple individual products liability cases. Additionally, Nas regularly advocates on behalf of clients in matters adverse to federal and state regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. He has secured multiple favorable outcomes for clients. Nas represents clients in merger control filings and reviews both in the U.S. and globally, including working to manage the merger clearance process, and ultimately securing clearance, in several foreign jurisdictions for a multi-billion-dollar global acquisition. Nas is a trusted counselor to clients on antitrust risk and compliance as well as healthcare regulatory compliance, particularly with respect to the federal Controlled Substances Act and its state analogs. Nas also maintains a substantial and successful pro bono practice. Most recently, Nas helped secure a significant victory in a precedent-setting case involving the right to free exercise of religion within the U.S. Armed Forces. In another matter, Nas represented a survivor of human trafficking in her efforts to clear her criminal record, including in a contested evidentiary hearing, and obtained complete relief before courts in multiple jurisdictions. Nas was presented with the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation’s Pro Bono Superstar of the Year Award in recognition of his achievements. Nas has also represented multiple clients in their applications for U nonimmigrant visas, and has counseled nonprofit organizations and conducted internal investigations related to allegations of financial and other wrongdoing by their board and employees.
