Monika Tashman is a Manatt Entertainment partner in the firm’s New York City office. With a broad-based practice spanning over 25 years in the music and entertainment industries, she advises and provides creative, pragmatic solutions for clients at the intersection of entertainment and innovation—from independent artists and record labels to new media entrepreneurs and emerging technology companies—aiming to strategically expand and transform their organizations, business models, and brands across a variety of digital and traditional media platforms. Monika brings a multidisciplinary background in both the legal and nonlegal sectors of entertainment, uniquely positioning her to provide extraordinary insight into the ins and outs of the industry. With a seasoned trail of entertainment transactional work, Monika guides clients through tough business decisions and legal challenges, working with them to further monetize their assets and find new growth opportunities to obtain the revenue they deserve. Her clients include some of the top talent and companies working in music and entertainment today. Additionally, Monika is actively involved in the emerging companies and technologies startup space. Utilizing a background in creative marketing and promotion, she guides content creators and new media companies not only through complex legal issues but also through new business growth opportunities, providing strategic advice on innovative brand development to help them succeed in the digital world. A widely respected leader throughout the entertainment industry in connection with negotiation and dealmaking, Monika and her thought leadership have been featured in several industry publications, including Billboard, Variety, USA Today and The New York Times. She is active in a variety of industry organizations, including the GRAMMY Music Education Coalition, is a member of the Advisory Board for Women in Music, and was the New York lead and member of the steering committee of her previous firm’s Women’s Initiative.
