About
Originally from Alabama, James W. Thurman (Jim) now practices in our New Orleans office where he works primarily with the firm's Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors' Rights group. His personal experience as a small business owner guides Jim's approach in addressing the legal problems his clients face. This approach centers on achieving a client's long-term operational goals while limiting their short-term costs. From the New Orleans office, Jim assists the firm’s leading attorneys in various aspects of restructuring proceedings in the energy and financial sector. He has proven himself to be a force to be reckon with in the firm’s bankruptcy, restructuring & creditors’ rights group. Jim has also represented purchasers in real-estate deals and performed other transactional work for clients in and outside of bankruptcy. He was a previous small business owner before earning his law degree at University of Michigan Law School in 2010. This experience helps guide him today in his approach in addressing the legal problems his clients face. Jim's work both in and outside of bankruptcy has proven he is an associate on a fast-track, as seen with his Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Star recognition for 2020
