Heidi provides practical tax solutions when clients want advice concerning charitable planning or with structuring, operating, acquiring, or disposing of their tax-exempt or for-profit business entities. She represents a wide variety of tax-exempt organizations, including public charities and private foundations, lobbying organizations, trade associations, and social clubs concerning qualification for recognition of exempt status, maintenance of exempt status, compliance with reporting requirements and excise tax provisions, unrelated business income tax, private inurement, and excess benefit transaction issues. She also counsels and advises individuals concerning their philanthropic goals and for-profit and nonprofit corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies concerning general business matters, and business succession issues. Heidi has also represented a number of clients in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service at the audit and appeals levels and in Tax Court.
