Emily S. Szaferski

With nearly two decades of experience, Emily approaches issues in a practical and compassionate manner for clients. In her domestic and family law practice, Emily Szaferski concentrates on dissolutions, adoptions, paternity matters, custody disputes, child support issues, and guardianships. She handles various types of adoptions including private, agency and foster adoptions, adoptions that involve the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, and the finalization of international adoptions. She was selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America® publication in 2020 in the area of family law and is a BV® Distinguished™ rated attorney based on Martindale-Hubbell's peer review ratings. Emily is a member of the Allen County Bar Association and is the Chair of its Public Relations Committee. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and its 2014 American Citizenship Committee. Emily is very active locally with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and was one of three "Women of the Year" for the society in 2013 and has been chosen to serve on their Leadership Committee. She is a member of the Bill Lewis Center for Children Board of Directors, and is a former member of the boards of directors for the Martin Luther King Montessori School and the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation. Emily earned her B.S., Accounting, and B.A., Business Administration, in 2000 from the University of Saint Francis. She received her J.D. in 2003 from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis. Emily is admitted to practice before the Indiana state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
