About Elliott

Elliott Cowan is Chairman of the Firm's Business Law Practice Group. He has developed a broad-based business law practice, including complex commercial transactions; corporate, limited liability company and partnership law; the purchase and sale of businesses and commercial real estate; mergers and acquisitions; contract negotiation and drafting; secured lending transactions; new business ventures; entity formation; business ”divorces" and restructurings; stockholder and other owner agreements; employment, independent contractor and consulting agreements; non-compete agreements; licensing and protection of intellectual property; marital property settlement agreements; and representation of all sectors of the health care industry from the solo practitioner to hospitals and health systems. Elliott uses his broad-based business law experience to serve as general counsel to a number of substantial business clients. Elliott's public service has included pro bono representation of, and service on the boards of directors of, charitable, civic and other tax-exempt organizations. He has served as chairman of the board of a non-profit nursing home in Ellicott City, Maryland; as an officer and director of a non-profit arts organization in Baltimore City, Maryland; and as president and a director of a non-profit school in Columbia, Maryland. Prior to joining Gordon Feinblatt, Elliott served as an Attorney-Advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., Division of Market Regulation, where he participated in the oversight of the rapidly evolving clearance and settlement system which serves the U.S. securities markets. Elliott has been named in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 editions of Best Lawyers in America for Corporate Law and in the 2014 edition for Corporate Compliance Law.
