Dan was an assistant professor of law at the University of Mainz School of Law in Germany. His teaching focused on cross-border litigation and transactions. Dan also wrote extensively on U.S. and German privacy law, including publishing a 600-page treatise in German on multijurisdictional class action litigation. Dan often practices out of Alston & Bird’s Brussels office, where Alston & Bird’s EU Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group is headquartered. He has presented U.S. privacy legislation to German privacy regulators as part of a limited series of ”Mainz Presentations on Security and Information Law“ at the invitation of the University of Mainz School of Law and the data protection commissioner of the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Dan has also presented clients’ EU cybersecurity programs to U.S. financial regulators. Dan is fluent in German, an intermediate French speaker, and a beginner in Spanish and Arabic.
