Curtis P. Bounds is a director at Bayard where he is head of the Family Law practice. Curtis focuses on family law matters and practices in the Delaware Family Court in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties. Curtis concentrates his experience in complex divorce and child custody cases. He also assists clients with pre and post-nuptial agreements, support matters, visitation, and adoption. Curtis is a volunteer for the Office of the Child Advocate, representing children who are abused, neglected or dependent, and he is trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution as a mediator. Curtis is a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Section, and he is a past Chair of the Delaware Bar Association Family Law Section. He currently serves as the Chair of the Delaware Family Law Commission and is a member of the Delaware Access to Justice Commission. Curtis is a member of the University & Whist Club. In 2019, Curtis was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). The organization is comprised of the top matrimonial attorneys throughout the nation. Curtis is currently the only active attorney Fellow in Delaware. Curtis has lectured and written on family law matters for continuing legal education seminars, adult education classes, public interest groups, and legal publications. Curtis contributes to the Delaware State Bar Association Family Law Section’s annual review of Family Law, and also served as the reporter on Delaware cases in Family Law Quarterly, a publication of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. In 2019, Curtis was selected again by his peers as a top family law attorney in Delaware Today magazine’s Top Lawyers list. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America© list for Family Law since 2009. Curtis was named the Best Lawyers® 2015 and 2017 Wilmington, Delaware Family Law ”Lawyer of the Year.“
