About Vickie

After graduating from Deming High School in southern New Mexico, Ms. Wilcox attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) in political science. After graduating from George Washington University, Ms. Wilcox returned to New Mexico and attended the University of New Mexico School of Law. Ms. Wilcox earned her Masters of Law in Taxation (”LL.M.“) from New York University, and subsequently returned to New Mexico to practice law. Ms. Wilcox continues to be ”AV“ rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell National Lawyers Directory (”AV“ is the highest rating available). She continues to be listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the categories of (i) Tax Law; (ii) Trusts and Estates Law; (iii) Litigation – Trusts & Estates; and (iv) Litigation & Controversy – Tax. Ms. Wilcox has also been honored by the Albuquerque Community Foundation, receiving the ”Excellence in Charitable Gift Planning“ award. Ms. Wilcox has also received a Martindale-Hubbell National Lawyers Directory Client Distinction Award based on client review ratings. Ms. Wilcox was named as the 2014 Tax Law ”Lawyer of the Year“, and the 2016 Litigation and Controversy – Tax ”Lawyer of the Year“, for Albuquerque, New Mexico, by The Best Lawyers in America. Ms. Wilcox is an ACTEC (American College of Trust and Estate Counsel) Fellow and is a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law. This involves a rigorous review process by the New Mexico Board, and only six attorneys are currently listed as certified specialists in this category in New Mexico. Ms. Wilcox is also on the Board of the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management Foundation. Ms. Wilcox is a founder of the Independent Community Foundation, Inc. and also serves on the Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate Law Specialization Committee. Ms. Wilcox is a 2015 Adjunct Professor at University of New Mexico School of Law (Wills and Trusts). Ms. Wilcox practices in the areas of estate planning, tax law, probate, estate and trust administration, charitable giving, business planning, business succession planning, and guardianships and conservatorships. She speaks both locally and outside of New Mexico to numerous financial advisors, attorneys, accountants and others on tax and estate planning, business planning, charitable giving, planning related to qualified retirement benefits, and legal ethics. The Wilcox Law Firm, P.C. hosts an annual seminar attended by over one-hundred and fifty top legal and financial advisors in the community on current legal topics.
