About Tyler
Tyler’s corporate practice focuses on helping professionals such as physicians, dentists, veterinarians, CPAs, and attorneys with all of their business needs. He helps professionals form their own companies, structure partnership and other joint ventures, and acquire existing practices. Once established, he assists with all legal matters that arise during a company’s tenure, including lease renewals, real estate acquisitions, space-sharing arrangements, issues with clients/patients, employment questions, partner buy-ins, multi-practice ownership, and partnership dissolution. When they are ready to retire, he helps his clients form and implement tax-efficient exit strategies, including sales of the businesses, deferred compensation structures, and other ”buy-out“ mechanisms. Tyler’s tax practice focuses on representing individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit businesses in matters with the Internal Revenue Service, Washington State Department of Revenue, and the U.S. Department of Justice. These include tax audits, collection issues, installment agreements, offers in compromise, tax liens, penalty abatements, voluntary disclosure issues, and other IRS disciplinary actions. He also advises taxpayers on complicated tax transactions and various income tax planning opportunities for closely held entities, family investment companies, real estate holdings companies, and healthcare groups. Tyler earned his law degree from Seattle University School of Law, where he earned the school’s President’s Scholarship for all three years. During law school, he focused on tax and business law, and was president of the law school’s moot court program, advancing to a national competition, as well as being elected to the National Order of Barristers. After graduating law school, Tyler received his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law. In addition to his legal practice, Tyler is an adjunct professor with Golden Gate University’s Graduate Tax Program, where he teaches Federal Gift and Estate Tax and Estate Planning courses, and has coached the University of Washington School of Law’s National Tax Moot Court Team.
