Thomas J. "Tommy" McGoey II

Thomas J. McGoey II is the leader of Liskow & Lewis’s labor and employment law practice group. He represents employers in litigation and arbitration and provides counseling and advice on a wide range of labor and employment issues. He has successfully handled litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts and administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Department of Labor (DOL), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). He has extensive experience defending claims of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation against whistleblowers, and wage and hour violations. He has represented management in labor arbitrations involving discipline and contract interpretation matters. His practice also consists of counseling employers in human resource matters; drafting employment policies, handbooks, and agreements; and conducting training programs for managers and supervisors. Mr. McGoey received a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the University of Virginia in 1984 and a law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1987. Prior to joining Liskow & Lewis, Mr. McGoey was a shareholder of The Kullman Firm, a regional, boutique law firm specializing in the representation of management in the labor and employment field. Mr. McGoey is a member of the American, Louisiana State, New Orleans and Federal Bar Associations and the Defense Research Institute. He is a member and past President of the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center. He is also a frequent speaker on employment law topics for attorneys, clients and employer/management groups.
