About Stevens
Stevens A. Carey is an original partner of the firm, a member of the Executive Committee and co-chair of its continuing education committee. His practice involves a broad range of transactional real estate matters, including joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions. Carey is a contributing editor for The Real Estate Finance Journal, a former member of the Editorial Board of Bloomberg BNA Real Estate Law & Industry Report and a past contributor and member of the Board of Advisors of Real Estate Workouts and Asset Management. He has authored numerous articles and is an active member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Beyond his contributions to advancing the industry, Carey has continued to manage major transactions on behalf of his clients. This year alone, he’s represented clients in transactions totaling well in excess of $500 million, including joint venture acquisitions made by institutional capital sources and significant refinancings of regional shopping malls. Furthermore, he’s currently representing a multi-year assemblage of the condominium components of a historic landmark mixed-use building in a major U.S. city. Carey has been recognized for his impact on the industry over the years, including being listed in Chambers USA since 2003. He has also been listed with Best Lawyers® since 2005 and Super Lawyers since 2004. Most notably, Carey was named Best Lawyers® 2015 Los Angeles Real Estate Law "Lawyer of the Year.“
