Robert J. Cino is a principal in the Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on litigation for management exclusively. Robert handles all aspects of employment law litigation including claims of harassment and discrimination on the basis of gender, pregnancy, age, race, religion, national origin and disability, as well as wrongful discharge, FMLA, CEPA, and retaliation claims. On behalf of clients, Robert has successfully obtained injunctive relief for employers who were the subjective of offensive and threatening conduct. Robert has vast jury trial experience. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, he served as an assistant prosecutor with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in Elizabeth, New Jersey, from 2009 through 2013. As an assistant prosecutor, Robert was lead counsel in many jury trials involving major crimes. He also successfully negotiated over 100 pleas and appeared in over 1,500 sentencing proceedings. In April 2015, John K. Bennett Esq. and Robert tried a five week trial in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The plaintiff alleged Defendant unlawfully failed to promote her on the basis of her gender and pregnancy leave. The plaintiff further alleged she was unlawfully terminated because of her gender and pregnancy leave and sought millions of dollars in damages. After five weeks of trial, the jury returned a no cause verdict. While attending law school, Robert was a founding member of the Mock Trial Team.
