About Lawrence

Shareholder, Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator, and law firm director Larry Giordano engages in a statewide practice based in Lewis Thomason’s Knoxville office. He is a member and has been co-chair of both the firm’s Education Law and Health Care Practice Groups (medical malpractice defense). His education law practice focuses on the representation of K-12 public school boards as well as small private colleges. He concentrates the balance of his practice in the areas of business, commercial and complex litigation including class action defense. His diverse experience includes an unusually wide range of legal issues, both litigation and transactional. He has significant criminal defense experience and has defended multiple cases presenting simultaneous civil and criminal proceedings. In addition, Mr. Giordano has substantial appellate experience and has argued before the Tennessee Supreme Court, Tennessee Court of Appeals, Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before earning his law degree from Georgetown, Mr. Giordano attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa and was a Senior Fellow in Psychology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors for Denison in 1975.Mr. Giordano is a former State of Tennessee Department of Education Administrative Law Judge and he teaches trial advocacy as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law. He was also a former member of the faculty of the Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques at Emory University's School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia for many years.Among his civic activities, Mr. Giordano is the past President of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee and he served as an assistant varsity soccer coach at Maryville College (NCAA Div. III).
