H. Eric Hilton is a Partner in our Atlanta office focusing on aging services, employment and labor, general and professional liability and construction matters. Eric represents a variety of businesses types including elder care facilities, property owners and managers, apartments, hotels and restaurants, real estate developers, airport concessionaires and construction contractors. Over the course of his career, Eric has handled a wide range of litigation matters ranging from employment discrimination, elder care and negligent security to matters involving professional negligence, breach of contract and construction defect. He has successfully tried cases to verdict in both state and federal court, and has appeared in numerous multi-party arbitrations, administrative hearings and mediations. In a notable toxic tort exposure case, Eric successfully argued before the Georgia Court of Appeals for extending the stringent asbestos causation framework to mold injury cases in Georgia. See Barko Response Team, Inc. v. Sudduth et al. 339 Ga. App. 897 (2016). In addition to his broad-based private practice experience, Eric also served as General Counsel, Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary for a decade at one of Atlanta’s largest construction, real estate development, hospitality and property management companies. In that role, he also oversaw the organization’s human resources and risk management functions and served as the Company’s chief labor negotiator. His experience in that role brings valuable first-hand corporate counsel insight and a strategic business mindset that benefits clients across all industries that he serves. Eric has been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Georgia Chapter, with the Outstanding General Counsel Award in 2012. He also was recognized by the Daily Report’s On the Rise – 15 to Watch list in 2007. Eric earned a Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School, and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Hampton University.
