George H. Cate III

George H. Cate, III, focuses his practice in civil litigation, crisis management, and representing corporations and individuals in connection with government and internal investigations. His civil litigation experience includes matters arising from a broad range of commercial and business transactions, misappropriation of trade secrets and other intellectual property disputes, non-competition and related business tort litigation, disputes under the False Claims Act, insurance litigation, banking litigation, federal tax litigation, and commercial real estate disputes. During his career, George has also represented clients in a variety of tort litigation, including the successful defense of automotive and aviation manufacturers in product liability litigation. His crisis management experience includes significant corporate matters with complex civil and white-collar criminal components. George has also represented clients in connection with internal corporate investigations and in the defense of civil and white-collar criminal investigations brought by federal and state prosecutors and other agencies. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 with a B.A. degree in history. He received his law degree in 1987 from Emory University Law School, where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team and inducted into the National Order of Barristers.
