Area of EmphasisDavid White is a shareholder in the Firm’s Construction, Litigation, and Energy and Natural Resources groups. Mr. White’s construction experience includes representing contractors, subcontractors, design engineers and project owners in disputes involving gas pipelines and compressor stations, steel mills, roads, retaining walls, industrial furnaces, airports, shopping centers and retail complexes, underground utilities, hospitals, commercial buildings, schools, and churches. His practice covers all aspects of construction law, from contract drafting and review, prosecuting and defending breach of contract/delay claims and payment disputes, including bond and mechanics’ liens matters and product defect/construction accident suits. His commercial litigation experience includes complex breach of contract matters, premises liability defense litigation, and products liability defense litigation. Mr. White has tried cases in state and federal trial courts and before government agencies. He has appeared before the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. White has also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution forums, such as AAA arbitration and mediation. BackgroundMr. White graduated from Yale University with a B.A. degree in 1987. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990, where he was a member of the Law Review. Memberships and AffiliationsMr. White is a member of the Construction Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He has been ranked among Pennsylvania’s top construction lawyers in Chambers and Partners’ Chambers USA Guide since 2021. Mr. White has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© in the Litigation – Construction and Construction Law sections since 2019 by BL Rankings. He was selected to the 2007-2018 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers lists (Thomson Reuters). Mr. White is rated by Martindale-Hubbell as AV Preeminent, Peer Rated for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence. Mr. White is a Fellow of the Temple University Academy of Advocacy. He is also active in his community with the United Way and the Yale Club of Pittsburgh.
