About Rolly
ROLLY L. CHAMBERS is a partner in the Charlotte, North Carolina office of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP, where he practices construction law and commercial litigation and is a mediator of commercial and construction disputes. He is a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Certified Mediator for Superior Court and Estates & Guardianship matters. Rolly has practiced law in Charlotte for over twenty-five years. He received his J.D. degree in 1984 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where he was a member of the William & Mary Law Review. He received a B.A. degree in English (with Honors) and Psychology in 1975 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar. From 1976 to 1981 he served on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He has been a member of the North Carolina Bar and the Bars of the federal courts in North Carolina since 1984. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Mecklenburg County Bar and of various committees and sections within those professional organizations. Rolly has handled a broad range of construction issues, problems, and disputes involving a wide variety of construction projects, both public and private. He has represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, sureties, and design professionals in evaluating construction claims; in mediating, arbitrating and litigating construction claims; and in negotiating and drafting construction contracts for industrial plants, office buildings, high-rise towers, schools, hotels, waste treatment facilities, shopping centers, residential real estate developments, and health care projects. He has tried construction cases in state and federal courts and has represented clients in hundreds of arbitrations and mediations. Rolly has given numerous seminar presentations and talks, written articles, and contributed chapters for publication in various periodicals and books regarding construction law topics. He has been named a ”North Carolina Super Lawyer“ and has been included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for work in the practice area of construction law.
