About Peter

Peter Doody specializes in defending cases brought against product manufacturers, transportation companies, and premises owners. Mr. Doody has extensive jury trial experience, and he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), which requires 20 jury trials to verdict as first chair. Mr. Doody, a Partner at HFM, currently serves as San Diego regional trial counsel for consumer product manufacturers and interstate motor carriers. He has significant experience defending serious personal injury cases. In his practice, he strives to reach resolutions, but is always prepared and ready for trial if a case cannot be settled. Mr. Doody is a member of the prestigious Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, a national invitation-only association of attorneys. Currently, he serves as the president of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. He is also the former President of San Diego Defense Lawyers and received their 2019 Defense Lawyer of the Year award. Mr. Doody has been rated ”AV“ by Martindale Hubbell™ — earning the highest possible rating for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability. He also serves on the San Diego County Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee and is a former President of the San Diego Inn of Court. Additionally, Mr. Doody is a nationally recognized speaker who has presented before civil litigation defense organizations, including the American Law Firm Association, Defense Research Institute, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Transportation Lawyers Association and Trucking Industry Defense Association.
