About Judith

Judith M. Mercier is a partner in the firm's Orlando office and concentrates in complex business and commercial litigation in trial and appellate courts. She represents companies in a wide range of industries, including technology, sports, financial services, hospitality and news and entertainment. Her practice focuses on contract disputes, business torts, intellectual property, media law and defending consumer claims. Ms. Mercier has defended consumer claims such as breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, negligence, unfair and deceptive trade practices, as well as various statutory claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Ms. Mercier is dedicated to helping clients evaluate risks and regulations, identify trends and develop strategies to achieve their business goals. She takes the time to understand her clients' business model, opportunities and standing in the marketplace to provide them with comprehensive guidance. She has significant experience conducting corporate investigations and advising clients on compliance matters. As a national counsel, Ms. Mercier devises practical strategies for clients to navigate disputes and leads a team of attorneys that handle trial court cases, appeals and arbitrations throughout the United States. Ms. Mercier's media law practice involves representing newspapers, television stations and other media entities in defamation actions, actions to obtain access to judicial records and proceedings, and defending journalists facing subpoenas under Florida's Shield law. In addition to her active law practice, Ms. Mercier served for three years as the national chair of the Holland & Knight Women’s Initiative and as a member of the firm's Diversity Council. She is a former certified public accountant.
