About Corey

Corey C. Kirkwood is an Associate with the firm and practices civil litigation with a concentration on medical malpractice defense and health care law. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor, Mr. Kirkwood worked as a law clerk to President Judge Emery of the 27th Judicial District of Pennsylvania where he drafted opinions in a number of complex civil matters including fraudulent transfers, natural gas title challenges, and professional and ordinary negligence actions. Mr. Kirkwood earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science from Pennsylvania State University and earned his Juris Doctorate from Florida State University College of Law in 2015. During his time in law school, Mr. Kirkwood worked for a Tallahassee firm with emphasis on workers’ compensation and employment discrimination claims. Mr. Kirkwood has a long history with trial advocacy dating back to high school when he led the Trinity High School Mock Trial Team to a National Championship in 2008 before being elected President of the Pennsylvania State University Mock Trial Team in 2012. He served as the Treasurer of the Florida State University College of Law Trial Advocacy Team where he consistently placed at championship tournaments. Mr. Kirkwood is currently the Trial Advocacy Adviser to both the Duquesne University Mock Trial Team and the Trinity High School Mock Trial Team which he led to a 5th place finish at the 2017 State Championship and 4th place finish at the 2018 State Championship.
